Weekly Reflection

This week my reflection is based on comment a student from the 8th grade made. Her name is Xaviera . at a moment during the lesson I was explaining an activity to her since she is a student that needs to be busy otherwise she does not pay attention to the class and do anything else but the exercises ( she is very talkative and annoying); and she told me: Miss usted es super buena onda a la otra practicante le dijimos que le hariamos la vida imposible jajajaja pero a usted no porque nos cae bien. I asked her why did you say that to the other prospective teacher? She only wants to learn and do her job like me. To what she answered: pero es que la otra Miss es pesada, no nos pesca y no le entendemos nada. I told her that wasn’t okay and that they must treat her better now from no won since she is a human being and needs and deserved to be respected. She told me she will try.
This situation made think that we as teachers must be aware of our students’ attitudes, comments and actions if we want to get on well with them and if we want to be able to do good classes. Sometimes, little actions or gestures from our students say a lot of what they are thinking or want to say, and we must be capable to understand that messages in order to have a better relationship with them.
